The trailblazer, now known as ’jiggy,’ has finally had the cause of it’s vibration located. A bent wheel! A replacement has been located and is on the way for ~60 bucks.

The driver’s side window refused to go up, and cruise control went out at the same time. Suspecting a faulty module, i did a lot of troubleshooting and found.. nothing. On a whim I swapped the drivers door and passenger door window switches, and was able to control the window, while also mysteriously restoring the cruise control. Guess I need a new Driver’s Door Module as well. TO THE EBAY MACHINE! Engine mounts are also bad...

After 200 miles I am averaging 16mpg, which isn’t bad considering the larger tires and all that. (Yes, that accounts for the ~7% incorrect mile readout.) If the wheel gets in this weekend, it’s road trip time! Going to head over to the forests and have some overland fun, maybe hit the Wolf River Bottoms when I get back. Gonna be fun in the mud! Or a lot of getting stuck. Gonna be bringing a tow rope and my hitch mount winch.

how did you discover your wheel was bent? I have a vibration that’s kicking my butt right now.

Had it put on a road force machine. At first the tire itself was suspect, but we removed it and remounted a known good tire. The wheel wasnt THAT bent, only by a few mm once we measured it, but it was enough.

I may be checking that out. Though it seems like it doesn’t matter if i rotate the tires or not so we’ll see. I’ve got a buddy with a truck like mine I was going to swap wheels for an hour to see if it fixes it.

I’m looking forward to getting it all straight and taking a nice offroad trip. Either get brutal over at windrock and hit trails, or go on an adventure type deal and cruise 100-200 miles of back country roads and camping.

Followed, though I think I might be a little overbuilt for rolling around on dirt trails when it’s done. May still be fun!
